Andluca Wins 2020 Cleantech Open Northeast Regional

Andluca Technologies was announced as one of the four Cleantech Open Northeast 2020 regional winners from a field of 40 companies. This award comes with $10,000 in cash plus added in-kind services. Additionally, Andluca Technologies was selected as the 2020 People’s Choice Award, as voted on by the 225 entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders, and public officials in attendance at the Regional Finals. The Finals judges were from leading organizations like Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Wells Fargo, Braemar Ventures, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Urban Future Lab, Schneider Electric, and NYSERDA.

Winning the Northeast region means Andluca and the 3 other winners will represent the area at the Cleantech Open Global Forum on October 21 and October 23. There they will compete with emerging cleantech companies from across the country for the national grand prize.

The northeast corridor is an area ripe for implementation of a product like the Andluca SmartUV system. Nearly 70% of New York City’s total carbon emissions come from buildings, and more than 90% of the buildings standing today will still be in use by 2050. Building energy codes continue to become more stringent, with local and state governments increasingly supporting building emissions standards with corresponding monetary penalties. NYC has implemented Local Law 97 and Washington DC has implemented the 2018 CEDC Act to force the hand of build owners to upgrade their building efficiency. Building owners and tenants (especially corporate tenants) are increasingly supporting sustainability as climate action takes a front seat in the public discourse.

Andluca’s wireless smart glass product allows for building owners and tenants to retrofit existing buildings and reduce corresponding carbon emissions. Eliminating the need for wires and the corresponding complex installation will increase adoption of smart glass in buildings. Andluca is aiming to be a big part of the clean energy future in our cities.

After the Cleantech Open Northeast award, Andluca was selected to be part of the Greentown Labs Climatetech Summit Startup Showcase. This event will virtually bring together thousands of people from across the climate ecosystem and give Andluca a chance to meet with potential investors, partners, and stakeholders.

Addition: In February of 2021, Andluca was featured alongside fellow Princeton spin-out Flux Marine in an article outlining the competitive edge that the two companies have received from participating in both Cleantech Open and NextFab’s accelerator programs. Both programs allowed Andluca to sharpen their busines model, find mentors and investors, and improve their products.

About Andluca Technologies:

Andluca, a Princeton University spin-out, has developed UV-solar-powered smart glass for improving the energy efficiency of buildings. Andluca’s patented technologies can reduce building energy use by up to 40% while significantly enhancing occupant comfort and productivity. Unlike available wired smart glass products – which require major renovation and installation by an electrician – Andluca’s wireless smart glass can be installed quickly and non-disruptively.  Learn more about Andluca here: https://andluca.com/
